BEING INTERACTIVE IN TEACHING ADOLESCENT MEDICINE AND HEALTH

There is clear evidence from teaching practice that ‘knowledge’ by itself, in those being taught about adolescent health, is not enough to bring about the better delivery of health care. Contemporary teaching methodologies which emphasize ‘interactivity’  have been shown to be a more effective basis for increasing competence in those providing adolescent health care.

As a tool to assist you in developing interactive training sessions (see also the EuTEACH Quick Guide to the Teaching Methodologies), this part of the site provides you with THREE SHORT VIDEOS (5-8 mins each) which exemplify different techniques for allowing the active participation of trainees. These videos were recorded during the 2007 EuTEACH summer school, with the authorization of the participants.

The  techniques demonstrated are particularly appropriate for an audience of professionals engaged in a continuing education course, who can  bring their own opinion and expertise. In the videos, observe how the audience is divided in small groups of 5-6 participants to allow for lively discussions and exchanges.
